Lucie Rocher is an artist-photographer who has lived and worked in Montreal.
She graduated from Panthéon-Sorbonne University with a Master’s in Visual Arts and Art History (2011) and pursued her studies at New York University (2012) supported by an excellence grant. In 2020, she obtained a PhD with honor in the department of Artistic Studies and Practices at the University of Quebec, Montreal .
She received several times financial support from the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec (CALQ) and the Canadian Council for the Arts (CAC). She was also finalist of the Prix Pierre-Ayot (AGAC – city of Montreal) in 2022.
Currently, she is teaching photography at Université du Québec à Montréal (UQÀM).
Lucie Rocher exhibited at several galleries in Quebec, at Z art Space and Hangar 7826 (Montréal, 2017, 2022), at the Maison de la Culture Janine-Sutto (Frontenac) (Montreal, 2017), at VU PHOTO (Quebec, 2018, 2021) and at Occurrence (Montréal, 2019), at Axenéo7 (Gatineau, 2020) also in New York (White Box, Recession Art 2012, Lyeberry HQ in collaboration with Antoine Lefebvre Editions, 2016), in Reykjavik (SIM, 2015) and recently in Japan (Palais des Paris, 2018). In 2024, she will have two solo shows, one at Centre Clark (Montreal) and the other at DRAC (Drummondville, QC).
She joined several international artist residencies (SIM Residency, Reykjavik, Iceland 2015) ; Centre Sagamie, Alma (Quebec, Canada 2016 and 2019) ; the Œil de poisson (Quebec city, spring 2018); Palais des paris (Takasaki, Japan, autumn 2018) ; Daïmon (Gatineau, 2020), Est-Nord-Est (Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, 2022) and recently in BANFF centre for arts and creativity (Alberta, 2023).
